More than six years after the publication of the first edition of the “Strategic Document of the National Resistance Organization of Azerbaijan,” the second and updated edition of this document has been published. It aims to address the socio-political changes in the region and advance the national and democratic objectives of Southern Azerbaijan and various regions of Iran within a new framework aligned with regional transformations. This edition has been released in three languages: Azerbaijani Turkish, English, and Persian.
The first edition of the “Strategic Document of the National Resistance Organization of Azerbaijan – Direniş”, which was recognized as the roadmap and operational framework for the Direniş organization, was published in the summer of 2018. However, considering the political, social, and economic changes in recent years in the region, Iran, and Southern Azerbaijan, revising and updating this document to align with new realities became necessary and inevitable.
The second edition, now published, provides a more comprehensive analysis of the current situation of Southern Azerbaijan and the oppressed peoples in Iran, identifying the challenges and opportunities they face. This edition not only elaborates on the ideological foundations and history of the organization but also transparently explains its structure and leadership.
The document discusses federalism as a solution to achieve freedom and justice, addressing the proposed political structure of a Federal Republic of Iran, the distribution of power among different provinces, and the transition from the Islamic Republic to a pluralistic and participatory democracy.
It also extensively examines key principles for building a free and democratic society in Southern Azerbaijan and Iran, including secularism, minority rights, women’s and children’s rights, social justice, human rights, language, national geography, culture and identity, economy, environment, separation of powers, national security, education and freedom of information, animal rights, and the rights of sexual minorities.
